The Yobe State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal hideouts across the state, arresting 14 suspected drug dealers and recovering a large quantity of illicit drugs during a coordinated raid in Jakusko Local Government Area.
According to an official signed statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe State Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the operation was carried out on July 11, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. under the leadership of the Area Commander, Gashua.
The statement disclosed that the operation involved personnel from Bade ‘A’ Division, Bade ‘B’ Division, Area Command Gashua, Garin Alkali Division, Yusufari Division, and Jakusko Division, working in collaboration with members of the Peace Group Vigilante. The team raided identified criminal hideouts and drug joints at Buduwa Market in Jakusko Local Government Area.
During the operation, 14 suspects were arrested for allegedly engaging in the sale, consumption, and abuse of illicit drugs and other intoxicating substances.
Police also recovered more than 300 sachets and packages of various illicit drugs, including Tramadol, Vega tablets, Indian hemp, and other prohibited and controlled substances.
SP Abdulkarim said investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspects are providing useful information to assist in tracking down other members of the criminal network. He noted that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to sustain aggressive raids on identified criminal hideouts and blackspots across the state.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking and substance abuse, describing the menace as a major driver of violent crimes and other criminal activities.
He also called on residents to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to strengthen the ongoing fight against crime and enhance security across Yobe State.
