The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has instructed commanding officers to prioritize mobile court operations as a crucial aspect of the end-of-year enforcement efforts. This move aims to intensify the Corps’ efforts in ensuring road safety and reducing crashes during the festive season.
This initiative is a proactive step by the FRSC to promote road discipline, prevent accidents, and ensure safer highways during the festive period and into the future.
Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Assistant Corps Marshal, Corps Public Education Officer at the Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, Abuja disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.
The FRSC said that the directive had become very necessary because Mobile Court operations helped to promptly prosecute traffic offenders, serving as a deterrent to potential violators.
To achieve maximum impact, Commanding Officers are expected to take responsibility for implementing Mobile Court operations effectively by working closely with relevant stakeholders, especially the Judiciary, to ensure seamless prosecution of traffic rules violators.
As a prelude to the operations, the Corps Marshal also ordered them to ensure robust engagement and public enlightenment campaigns to educate road users about the importance of adhering to traffic laws.
The Corps Marshal therefore called on drivers and vehicle owners to put their vehicles in good shape, ensure that their vehicle and drivers licenses are up to date.
To avoid prosecution, drivers must adhere to established traffic rules and regulations on all roads. The authorities have made it clear that no driver will be exempt from punishment if caught violating traffic laws.
