Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded a 213 per cent increase in the number of terrorist fighters and associates surrendering in the North East Theatre of Operations, amid sustained military pressure on terrorist positions and logistics networks.

According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the increase was recorded within the past week as troops intensified coordinated ground operations, engagements against identified terrorist positions and disruption of terrorist supply routes.

The Theatre Command said the operations were aimed at degrading the capabilities of terrorist elements and restricting their freedom of action across the North East.

It said the sharp rise in surrenders indicated that increasing numbers of terrorist fighters and associates were abandoning terrorist activities and submitting to established surrender procedures.

In a further development, two high-profile terrorist members surrendered to troops, bringing arms, ammunition and other military items with them.

The recovery of the weapons and ammunition, the Theatre Command said, further demonstrated the impact of sustained military pressure on the cohesion, morale and operational sustainability of terrorist elements.

It added that the development was also indicative of the diminishing capacity of terrorist groups to retain fighters and sustain prolonged operations.

Similarly, other terrorist members surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion in Bama on August 7, 2026, at New Abaram, following sustained military operations and internal disagreements within the terrorist enclave.

The surrendering individuals were screened, while mobile phones and other items were recovered from them before they were handed over for further action in accordance with established procedures.

The Theatre Command said the increasing frequency of surrenders underscored the effectiveness of its multi-dimensional operational approach, which combines offensive ground operations, precision engagements and systematic disruption of terrorist logistics and supply networks.

It noted that by denying terrorists the opportunity to manoeuvre freely, regroup and replenish their resources, troops were progressively restricting their operational options and undermining their ability to sustain terrorist activities.

“Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in sustaining legitimate military pressure against terrorist elements while providing appropriate channels for those who elect to surrender,” the statement said.

The Theatre Command urged members of the public to continue supporting ongoing military operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies.

It also encouraged terrorist fighters and their associates to abandon violence and take advantage of available surrender channels, stressing that the objective remained to further degrade terrorist capabilities, restore security and create conditions for lasting peace and stability across the North East.
