Hon. Michael Magbisa, Commissioner for Special Duties for Bayelsa West in Bayelsa State, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Magbisa announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the leadership of the party in Sagbama Ward 10, where he formally withdrew his membership.
In the letter, the commissioner said his decision followed deep personal reflection, noting that although the move was difficult, it was guided by his conscience and a need for clarity of purpose.
According to him, the decision was not made lightly, considering the role he had played in the party and the commitment he invested in its development.
“This decision weighs heavily on me. It is not a departure made in comfort, but one shaped by deep reflection and an undeniable sense of loss,” he stated.
Magbisa explained that his relationship with the party went beyond mere membership, describing it as a political platform he joined with the intention of contributing to its growth and strengthening its structures.
“The party is not merely an association I belonged to; it is a structure I joined to build,” he added.
Despite his exit, the commissioner said he harbours no resentment toward the party and expressed hope that it would continue to grow stronger and maintain unity in the future.
“I part ways with the party with no ill will. Rather, I do so with a sincere hope that the All Progressives Congress will continue to find unity, strength and direction in the days ahead,” he said.
Magbisa concluded the letter by extending his appreciation and goodwill to the party leadership and members, assuring them of his highest regards.
