Serving and retired senior military officers on Saturday converged on Kano for the wedding ceremonies of two daughters of the Director of Defence Information, Major-General Samaila Uba.
The Wedding Fathia, held at the Alfurqan Mosque on Alu Avenue, Nasarawa GRA, Kano, attracted senior officers from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, were represented at the ceremony.
The CDS was represented by the Chief of Defence Training at Defence Headquarters, Rear Admiral Abolade Ogunleye, while the CNS was represented by the Head of the Logistics College in Kano, Commodore Abubakar Madawaki.
Also present were former Nigerian Army spokesman, retired Brigadier-General Sani Kukasheka Usman; Navy Captain L. Abdulkadir, spokesman of Nigerian Navy Holdings; and other senior military officers.
The first daughter, Sadiya Ismail Uba, was married to Abdulhamid Magaji Bako, while the second daughter, Dr Aisha Ismail Uba, was given in marriage to Dr Ibrahim Ali Umar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major-General Uba expressed gratitude to Allah for allowing him to witness the marriage of his two daughters, describing it as a rare blessing.
“I’m very happy to witness today, which is the occasion of Wedding Fathia for my two daughters. I give thanks to Allah for sparing my life to witness this day,” Uba said.
He also appreciated his senior officers, mentors, colleagues and juniors for attending the ceremony, praying for continued blessings upon them.
The Chief Imam of Alfurqan Mosque had earlier joined the couples in a private session before offering prayers for the families of Major-General Uba, the late Magajin Rafin Ringim and Alhaji Bako Babura.
