The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has embarked on an infrastructure upgrade involving the construction of a new entrance gate, modern Quarter Guard Post, access road and solar illumination facilities to strengthen facility security and improve access control.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, flagged off the projects during a groundbreaking ceremony, describing the infrastructure development as part of efforts to provide a more secure and conducive operational environment for personnel.

According to an official statement signed by the Assistant Commandant of Corps and National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, the projects are aimed at strengthening the security of the Corps’ facilities, improving access management and enhancing the operational environment for personnel to effectively discharge their statutory responsibilities.

The statement disclosed that the construction projects are expected to be completed within eight weeks.

The new entrance gate and modern Quarter Guard Post are expected to enhance access control and reinforce the security architecture of the facility, while the access road and solar illumination project will improve movement and visibility within the premises.

The Commandant General expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for their intervention and continued support towards the infrastructural development and operational capacity of the Corps.

The development forms part of the NSCDC’s efforts to strengthen its institutional infrastructure and improve the working conditions of personnel, particularly in the discharge of its responsibilities of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as supporting the maintenance of internal security across the country.
