The Gombe State Police Command has rescued an eight-year-old boy who was abducted in Akko Local Government Area of the state and arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the crime.
According to an official statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State Police Command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the successful rescue followed intelligence-led operations by police detectives.
The statement said the incident was reported on June 28, 2026, when Alhaji Muhammadu Nabadara informed the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters that his eight-year-old son had left home on June 27 at about 6:30 a.m. and failed to return.
Following the report, detectives immediately launched coordinated investigations to locate the missing child.
The Police disclosed that on June 29, the victim’s family received a telephone call claiming to reveal the child’s whereabouts. However, investigations later confirmed that the information was false and deliberately intended to mislead investigators.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on June 30 tracked and arrested the first suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed, in Jauro Musa Quarters, Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to conspiring with three other individuals identified as Mohammed Magaji, 35; Sale Sale, 23; and Walida Ya’u, 18, all residents of Kagarawal Quarters in Gombe.
The Police said the three accomplices were subsequently arrested, while the abducted child was found in their custody and rescued unharmed.
The victim has since been reunited with his family, while investigations are continuing. The Command said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Commending the operatives involved in the rescue mission, the Commissioner of Police, Gombe State Command, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, praised their professionalism, diligence and swift response.
He reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support crime-fighting efforts.
