The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has successfully conducted its 2026 promotion exercise, advancing more than 10,005 personnel nationwide in what has been described as one of the largest and most technologically driven promotion exercises in the history of the Corps.

According to an official signed statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri, the exercise was conducted under the leadership of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, as part of efforts to strengthen staff welfare, institutional growth and career development within the organisation.

The statement disclosed that a total of 3,597 Intermediate Rank Officers and 6,408 Junior Officers participated in the promotion exercise, which leveraged advanced Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platforms to ensure transparency, fairness, credibility and inclusiveness throughout the process.

FRSC explained that the technology-driven approach eliminated operational bottlenecks, improved efficiency and guaranteed equal opportunities for all eligible personnel to compete based on merit, competence and performance.

To ensure compliance with established guidelines, the exercise, which commenced across the Corps’ 12 Zonal Commands on 14 June 2026, was supervised by representatives of the Corps Marshal. Observers from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Federal Character Commission also monitored the process in line with the Corps Promotion Policy and the Federal Character Principle.

A key feature of the exercise was the inclusion of officers pursuing academic and professional development programmes outside Nigeria. Through the deployment of innovative ICT solutions, affected personnel were able to participate remotely without interrupting their studies, ensuring that no eligible officer was disadvantaged because of geographical location or educational commitments.

The Corps noted that the promotion exercise reflects the strategic vision of the Corps Marshal to build a highly motivated, professional and future-ready workforce where diligence, innovation, commitment and excellence are recognised and rewarded.

The statement further highlighted that under Shehu Mohammed’s leadership, FRSC has continued to implement reforms aimed at improving personnel welfare, strengthening institutional capacity and leveraging technology to enhance service delivery.

According to the Corps, the successful conduct of the 2026 promotion exercise underscores its commitment to institutionalising best practices, fostering staff confidence in the system and creating a digitally driven organisation that prioritises career advancement and professional growth.

FRSC reaffirmed that hard work, professionalism and dedication remain the key pathways to advancement within the Corps, while reiterating its commitment to building an empowered workforce capable of delivering on its mandate of ensuring safer roads for all Nigerians.
