The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has approved the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Scheme of Service, marking a major institutional milestone and the first dedicated Scheme of Service for the Commission.
According to an official signed statement by the Head of Corporate Communications of NIMC, Kayode Adegoke, the approval reflects the ongoing reforms being championed by the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. (Dr.) Abisoye Coker-Odusote, aimed at repositioning the Commission as a modern, efficient and globally competitive institution.
The statement noted that the newly approved Scheme of Service is anchored on the Director General’s five-point agenda and a people-centred leadership approach focused on institutional excellence and human capital development in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Scheme provides a comprehensive framework for the Commission’s operations, outlining staff cadres, promotion pathways, organisational structure, job responsibilities, qualification requirements and professional standards. It is also aligned with Public Service Rules and international best practices on career progression and institutional growth.
Speaking during the formal presentation of the approved Scheme, Mr. Imirhe Gabriel Nwagolo, Deputy Director, Scheme of Service, Organisational Design Department in the OHCSF, commended NIMC for its commitment to institutional excellence, noting that the Commission is among a select number of federal agencies to secure approval for a dedicated Scheme of Service.
Representing the Director General at the event, the Head of Human Capital Management, Mrs. Rhoda Jackden, expressed appreciation to the OHCSF for the approval, describing it as a significant milestone for the Commission. She reaffirmed NIMC’s commitment to the effective implementation of the Scheme to enhance operational efficiency and staff development.
The approved Scheme of Service also introduces new Enrolment, Card and Commercial Cadres, alongside existing cadres, further strengthening the Commission’s capacity to deliver on its mandate of identity management and service delivery.
