The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres of products suspected to be illegally sourced Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa during an operation in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
According to an official statement signed by the Director Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the operation was conducted on August 24, 2026, by personnel of Forward Operating Base (FOB) LEKKI as part of efforts to curb the illegal trade and storage of petroleum products and the proliferation of illicit drugs within the base’s Area of Operations.
The Navy said the personnel recovered the suspected illicit petroleum products and cannabis during the operation, but the suspects fled the location before they could be apprehended.
The recovered exhibits were subsequently secured and conveyed to the base for further investigation and appropriate action in line with established procedures.
