The Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice, and collective responsibility toward national security as Muslims across the country celebrate this year’s Eid el-Kabir.
According to an official signed statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Honourable Minister of Defence, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Defence Minister extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, describing Eid el-Kabir as a symbol of supreme sacrifice, unwavering faith, and total obedience to the divine will.
General Musa urged Nigerians to reflect on the significance of the season and channel its values toward strengthening national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
“The peace and progress of our nation require a shared commitment,” the minister stated. “In the spirit of this holy season, let us transcend our differences and join hands in keeping faith with the ideals of a strong, secure, and indivisible Nigeria.”
The Defence Minister also paid glowing tribute to officers and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their courage, resilience, and patriotism in defending the nation’s territorial integrity and combating insecurity across various operational theatres.
He noted that while citizens celebrate the festive season in the comfort of their homes, military personnel remain on the frontlines making sacrifices to guarantee the safety and stability of the country.
General Musa reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Defence to supporting the military with the necessary welfare packages, logistics, and operational equipment required to decisively tackle threats to national peace and security.
He further called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities within their communities, stressing that national security remains a collective responsibility.
The minister also wished President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, members of the Armed Forces, and all Nigerians a peaceful and blessed Eid el-Kabir celebration.
