The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has rewarded 11 Naval Warrant Officers of the Nigerian Navy with Toyota Hilux vehicles in recognition of their exemplary performance, professionalism, dedication and contributions to the growth of the Service.

The presentation took place during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Chief of the Naval Staff Annual Retreat in Abuja, where Abbas reiterated the Navy’s commitment to recognising hard work, promoting excellence and motivating personnel to deliver higher standards of service.

The beneficiaries, drawn from different professional branches of the Nigerian Navy, were recognised for their meritorious service and commitment to their responsibilities.

They include NWO RP1 IS Sa’adu, NWO SR S Garba, NWO RP1 OF Oguntuloye, NWO RP1 K Ebhaleme, NWO UC1 JA Idakpo, NWO SR AD Ekezife, NWO QA1 M Khadi, NWO MEA SS Anja, NWO WEA MK Gidado and NWO SA MK Aminu.

The gesture underscores the Nigerian Navy’s emphasis on personnel welfare, institutional recognition and the promotion of a reward system that encourages professionalism, discipline and dedication among its workforce.

Beyond the recognition of outstanding personnel, the CNS used the occasion to task naval commanders with ensuring that resolutions reached at the annual retreat translate into measurable improvements in the Service’s operational capacity and overall performance.

He stressed the importance of sustaining efforts to secure Nigeria’s territorial waters, confront maritime criminality and protect the nation’s maritime resources and economic interests.

Abbas further called on officers and ratings to remain focused on building a more capable, responsive and operationally efficient Navy, emphasising that the successful implementation of the strategies developed at the retreat would be critical to strengthening the Service’s maritime security responsibilities.

The presentation of the vehicles reflects the Navy’s commitment to institutionalising a culture of merit and appreciation, while encouraging personnel to maintain high standards of professionalism and contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the Service’s operational objectives.
