…OPHK clears terrorist stronghold in renewed offensive

By Nkechi Eze

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralized several Boko Haram insurgents and recovered arms and ammunition during a coordinated assault on terrorist positions in Ladin Buttu, a notorious enclave within Sambisa Forest.

According to a statement made available by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK, the operation, which took place on Saturday, 11 May 2025, was launched as part of renewed efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts and disrupt their logistics networks.

During the operation, five insurgents were killed in a fierce gun battle, while troops recovered five AK-47 rifle magazines fully loaded with ammunition and other combat ordnance. Traces of blood were found along the insurgents’ escape routes, suggesting that several others sustained serious injuries while fleeing.

The military described Ladin Buttu as a strategic terrorist hub used for logistics coordination and movement across the forest, underscoring the significance of its clearance.

The leadership of Operation HADIN KAI lauded the troops for their gallantry and strict adherence to operational directives from the Chief of Army Staff, who has charged formations to intensify offensive operations across all theatres.
