The President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, has assured youths in Northern Nigeria of his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote empowerment, education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and economic inclusion.
Akpabio gave the assurance while receiving the Par-Excellence Award from the Arewa Revival Project (ARP) in recognition of his leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic and legislative development.
The award was presented to him in Abuja by Hon. Muttaka Ahmed Ibrahim, Project Coordinator of the Arewa Revival Project, on behalf of the organisation.
Speaking during the presentation, Ibrahim said the award was an expression of appreciation for Akpabio’s contributions to democratic governance and national development.
He also called for stronger collaboration among political leaders, community organisations and other stakeholders to address the challenges confronting Northern Nigeria, particularly its youth population.
In his response, the Senate President expressed appreciation to the organisation for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue working towards national unity, stability and development.
He stressed the need to provide young Nigerians with meaningful opportunities to participate in national development, noting that investment in their potential was essential to promoting peace, tackling insecurity and achieving sustainable development.
Akpabio also called for sustained cooperation among the Federal Government, state governments, community leaders and youth organisations to expand opportunities for young people, particularly those in Northern Nigeria.
He maintained that empowering youths through education, skills development and entrepreneurship would strengthen their economic participation and contribute to national prosperity.
The Senate President further urged Nigerians, particularly stakeholders across Northern Nigeria, to give massive support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, including backing the President’s re-election bid.
He said sustained public engagement and support for the administration’s programmes would be important in advancing its development agenda.
The Arewa Revival Project said the award reflected its commitment to recognising distinguished public service, promoting national unity and encouraging leadership that advances peace, development and the welfare of Nigerians.
The organisation congratulated Akpabio on the recognition, expressing hope that the award would further strengthen collaboration towards building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
