The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed allegations that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is secretly working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the opposition party.
According to a statement signed by Osa Director, National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, the party described the allegations as false and malicious, saying it was compelled to respond to prevent the claims from being mistaken for truth.
The party said Dickson “is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else” and has no secret or open agreement with the ruling party.
It argued that the former Bayelsa State governor’s political record and positions on national issues were inconsistent with allegations that he would enter into an arrangement to sabotage the NDC, its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The NDC said Dickson could have joined the APC but instead chose to remain with the opposition and contribute to building the party.
It further described the allegations as “wicked, vexatious and mendacious,” accusing unnamed political opponents of spreading them out of concern over what it described as the growing popularity and acceptance of the NDC nationwide.
The party urged its supporters, members and well-wishers to remain focused on its political objectives and work towards victory for its presidential and other candidates in the 2027 elections.
