Seven Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers have demonstrated professional excellence at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), following their successful completion of Course 47 in Accra, Ghana.
The course, which also marked the 50th anniversary of the College, brought together 90 officers comprising 64 officers from the Ghana Armed Forces and 26 officers from 14 allied African countries.
The participating allied countries included Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Malawi, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Togo.
Nigeria participated with nine officers from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, comprising seven NAF officers and two Nigerian Navy officers.
The Nigerian contingent performed creditably throughout the course, with Squadron Leader AM Sanda emerging as the Best Allied Graduate.
The award is presented to the allied participant who demonstrates outstanding academic performance, broad military knowledge, professional competence and leadership ability during the course.
Sanda’s achievement highlights the intellectual capacity and professionalism of NAF officers in advanced military education, while underscoring the Service’s emphasis on continuous capacity development and the cultivation of strategically minded personnel.
The performance of the Nigerian officers also reinforces the importance of professional military education in preparing personnel to operate effectively in complex and evolving security environments.
Beyond the academic and professional achievements, Nigeria’s participation in Course 47 further strengthened military-to-military cooperation and regional security partnerships among African armed forces.
The course provided an opportunity for participating officers to exchange professional knowledge, deepen mutual understanding and enhance interoperability in support of collective security objectives across the continent.
The recognition of Sanda as Best Allied Graduate therefore represents both an individual accomplishment and a reflection of the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to professional excellence, strategic leadership and continuous development of its personnel for national and regional security responsibilities.
