The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, is strengthening the Nigerian Air Force’s intelligence-led operational strategy as part of efforts to improve the effectiveness and coordination of air operations across the country.
Aneke’s latest move involved an engagement with Air Component Commanders across the NAF’s operational theatres, where he reviewed ongoing activities, assessed mission effectiveness and examined emerging challenges confronting the Service.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to identify measures for further enhancing the NAF’s operational capabilities and ensuring that air operations remain responsive to the evolving security environment.
The Air Component Commanders briefed the CAS on activities within their respective theatres, highlighting operational achievements, ongoing efforts and areas requiring further attention.
Aneke commended the commanders and their personnel for their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation, while charging them to sustain the momentum of ongoing operations and sharpen their operational focus.
He also urged them to maintain the high standards of professionalism expected of the Service, emphasising the need for effective coordination and continuous assessment of operational realities.
The engagement reflects the CAS’s focus on a proactive and predictive operational posture anchored on sound intelligence, effective coordination and continuous evaluation of threats.
Under the strategy, intelligence is expected to remain central to operational planning and decision-making, enabling the Service to anticipate emerging threats and deploy its capabilities more effectively across the various theatres.
Aneke also assured Nigerians that the NAF remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional responsibility to protect the nation and its people.
He said the Service would continue to work in concert with the sister Services and other security agencies to confront threats and contribute to creating a safer environment for Nigerians.
The engagement further reinforces the NAF’s commitment to improving operational readiness, strengthening inter-theatre coordination and ensuring that its air power remains focused on addressing Nigeria’s evolving national security challenges.
