The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has condemned the recent attack on Bin’per Community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, which claimed the lives of about 24 residents, injured several others and destroyed property.

Disu also ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and operational assets to the affected community to strengthen security and prevent further attacks.

The IGP’s directive was conveyed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, AIG Dankombo F. Morris, during an on-the-spot assessment of the community on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

AIG Morris, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayoade Faniyan, and other senior police officers, assessed the security situation and reviewed measures being implemented to restore stability in the affected area.

According to an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, AIG Morris conveyed the IGP’s deep concern over the incident and described the attack as barbaric and unacceptable.

He expressed sympathy to the families of those killed, while assuring residents that the Nigeria Police Force would intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

The AIG said the deployment of additional personnel and operational assets was aimed at strengthening security in the community, restoring residents’ confidence and creating an enabling environment for affected persons to safely return to their homes and livelihoods.

Morris also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, where he conveyed the condolences of IGP Disu to the government and people of the state over the attack.

Responding, Governor Mutfwang expressed concern over the incident and reaffirmed the state government’s support for security agencies working to apprehend those responsible, prevent further attacks and restore lasting peace in the affected communities.

The Nigeria Police Force said it would continue to collaborate with the Plateau State Government, other security agencies and affected communities to strengthen security and protect lives and property across the state.
