The Nigerian Army has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms, inviting applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the advertisement is fraudulent and did not originate from the Nigerian Army.
The Army warned members of the public to disregard the fake recruitment notice and advised prospective applicants not to apply through, patronise or make payments to any individual, group or website claiming to be conducting recruitment on behalf of the service.
The statement reiterated that all Nigerian Army recruitment and commissioning exercises are conducted free of charge, transparently and strictly on merit.
It added that official recruitment announcements are only published through national newspapers, the Nigerian Army’s verified social media platforms and other recognised official communication channels. The Army stressed that no application forms are sold and that no individual or agent is authorised to facilitate recruitment or demand payment at any stage of the process.
The Nigerian Army also warned those behind the fake advertisement to desist from the criminal act, disclosing that security agencies have been activated to identify, arrest and prosecute individuals involved in producing, circulating or using the fraudulent recruitment notice to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
It noted that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the integrity of its recruitment process and urged the public to verify all recruitment information through official Nigerian Army channels. It also encouraged Nigerians to report suspicious recruitment activities to the nearest military formation or security agency.
