The Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media alleging that the Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), intends to resign from office.
According to an official signed statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Defence, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the reports are entirely fabricated and were deliberately created to mislead the public.
The statement described the rumours as “absolute falsehood borne out of complete mischief,” stressing that the Defence Minister remains fully committed to his responsibilities and has no intention of stepping down.
It stated that General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) remains focused on his national security mandate and is dedicated to driving Nigeria’s defence strategy, noting that the efforts of the Ministry are already yielding positive results.
The Office of the Minister urged members of the public to disregard the false claims and cautioned media organisations as well as social media users against spreading unverified information.
It also advised the public to seek clarification from the Office of the Honourable Minister of Defence before publishing or sharing reports relating to the Minister’s official duties or status.
