Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled a kidnap attempt by suspected terrorists in Surimi, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, rescuing four abducted victims without recording any casualty among the troops.

The operation, conducted on Friday, 10 July 2026, followed credible intelligence that armed terrorists were carrying out kidnapping activities in the border community between Kebbi and Sokoto states.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Unashi mobilised to the area to deny the terrorists freedom of action.

On arrival, the troops made contact with the suspected terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower. Unable to withstand the military offensive, the terrorists abandoned the four kidnapped victims and fled into the surrounding bush.

The rescued victims were safely recovered and subsequently reunited with their families.

Military authorities confirmed that no casualty was recorded among Operation FANSAN YAMMA personnel during the operation, describing the successful rescue as another demonstration of the Armed Forces’ resolve to protect lives and sustain pressure on terrorist and criminal elements operating across the North-West.
