The Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, has ordered a full-scale investigation into allegations of misconduct involving some military personnel following complaints raised by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, while assuring that anyone found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action under military law.

According to an official signed statement by the Army Public Relations Officer, Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, Major Yahaya Ibrahim, the Depot expressed concern over the press release issued by NANS Southwest Zone D regarding the alleged misconduct and reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting all citizens, particularly young people.

The statement stressed that the Nigerian Army exists to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians, noting that any conduct by personnel that undermines this responsibility is unacceptable.

It emphasized that no student or law-abiding citizen should be subjected to harassment, intimidation, or assault by personnel entrusted with the nation’s security.

Major Yahaya Ibrahim disclosed that, in line with military regulations and the core values of the Nigerian Army, the Commandant had directed an immediate investigation to establish the facts surrounding the allegations and ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.

To facilitate a thorough and transparent investigation, the Commandant appealed to the NANS Southwest Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, to provide all available evidence and witness statements relating to the incident.

The statement further maintained that the alleged actions do not reflect the training, discipline, and character development standards upheld at the Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo.

It assured the public that the Depot remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among its personnel, stressing that any individual found guilty of misconduct would face the full weight of military law.

The Commandant also expressed readiness to meet with the leadership of NANS at the earliest opportunity to discuss the matter and chart a constructive path forward aimed at ensuring justice and strengthening public confidence in the Nigerian Army.
