The Nigerian Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Centre (NIWOSEC) has again charged the Nigerian government on the need to prioritize Workers as the most important resources in the country.

The Center stated this in a Press release made available to newsmen on May 1st, 2024 in Abuja.

Signed by its Executive Director, Dr. David Kayode Ehindero, NIWOSEC, called on governments at all levels to recognize and maximize the opportunities inherent in the Nigerian workforce, describing workers as the most important resources ahead of natural resources such as oil, gold, and others.

Ehindero, a foremost lab our leader and advocate further urged the government to invest in the workforce, arguing that such move was capable of unlocking the full potential of the country’s human capital and drive sustainable economic growth and development

The statement read:
“As we commemorate Workers Day 2024, the Nigerian Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Centre (NIWOSEC) calls on the Governments at all levels; Federal, States, and Local Councils to recognize and maximize the opportunities inherent in the Nigerian workforce.

“We urge the authorities to place Nigerian workers as the most important resources ahead of other natural resources such as oil, gold, and others.

“NIWOSEC is deeply concerned about the underutilization of the working population in Nigeria, particularly among public service workers.

“The failure of the government to adequately remunerate these hardworking individuals not only undermines their contributions but also makes life difficult for them upon retirement.

“Nigeria boasts of a vibrant and dynamic workforce that forms the backbone of the nation’s economy. It is imperative that the government recognizes the value of its workforce and takes proactive measures to ensure their welfare and well-being.

“Adequate remuneration, training, and opportunities for career advancement are essential to harnessing the full potential of Nigerian workers.

“NIWOSEC calls on the government to prioritize the needs of the workforce by ensuring fair and competitive wages for all workers, including those in the public service.

“Implementing policies that promote job security, career growth, and skills development.
Creating a conducive working environment that fosters productivity and innovation.

“Providing comprehensive retirement benefits and support for retired workers.
