The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr Richard Pheelangwah, has paid a courtesy visit to the Military Pensions Board in Abuja, where he was received by the Board’s Chairman, Mikail Abdulraheem.

According to Sqn Ldr Aliyu Mohammed, Public Relations Officer of the Military Pensions Board, Mr. Pheelangwah expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and his team. He commended the Board for its effective administration of pension and gratuity benefits to military retirees, noting that its work is fundamental in recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of members of the Armed Forces.

Highlighting the value of military veterans, the Permanent Secretary described them as “national assets whose services must always be acknowledged and held in high esteem.” He stressed the need for close collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the Military Pensions Board, emphasizing that stronger institutional cooperation would enhance policy development and service delivery in pension administration.

Mr. Pheelangwah also lauded the professionalism and dedication of the Board’s personnel and assured that the Ministry of Defence remains committed to supporting initiatives that will strengthen the Board’s operations and improve services for military retirees.

In response, Air Vice Marshal Abdulraheem thanked the Permanent Secretary for the visit and reiterated the Board’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry in advancing the welfare of military retirees and their next-of-kin.

The meeting concluded with a tour of the Board’s facilities, during which the Chairman, Permanent Secretary, and his entourage were shown key infrastructure and operational units that support the administration and management of military pensions.
