The Nigerian Air Force has called on Nigerian youths to channel their creativity, intellect and innovative capacity towards shaping the future of air operations through the Chief of the Air Staff Literary Competition, a forward-looking initiative designed to deepen youth engagement in national security and emerging technologies. The invitation, extended by the NAF, positions young Nigerians as critical contributors to ideas that can strengthen airpower, advance technological adoption and support national development.

Disclosing this in an official statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, explained that the competition commenced on 21 November 2025 and will run until 28 February 2026. He noted that the initiative is structured to promote informed advocacy, stimulate innovative thinking and nurture talents capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s security architecture and technological growth.

The 2025/2026 edition of the competition, initiated at the behest of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, offers a vibrant platform for young Nigerians to articulate ideas, perspectives and creative interpretations on contemporary security and technology-related issues. By opening multiple creative and intellectual channels for participation, the Nigerian Air Force aims to sharpen critical thinking, deepen youth interest in emerging technologies and cultivate a culture of innovation that aligns with the evolving demands of modern airpower in a complex operational environment.

Participants are invited to compete across three categories; Essay, Art and Poetry, allowing for analytical, visual and creative engagement with the competition’s central theme, “Optimising Emerging Technologies for Enhanced Air Operations.” The theme reflects the deliberate drive by the Nigerian Air Force to harness cutting-edge technologies to boost operational effectiveness, improve mission outcomes and proactively prepare for future security challenges.

Beyond competition, the CAS Literary Competition is conceived as a strategic tool for inspiring informed youth advocacy, strengthening civil–military relations and empowering young Nigerians to see themselves as active stakeholders in national security and technological advancement. It further underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to inclusive engagement, intellectual development and the generation of innovative ideas that support effective, adaptive and future-ready air operations.

Interested participants have been advised to consult the accompanying flyer or poster for comprehensive guidelines, eligibility criteria and submission requirements as the Nigerian Air Force continues to invest in platforms that connect youth creativity with national security imperatives.
