The Federal Executive Council (FEC) is mourning the loss of Lieutenant General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who passed away at the age of 82. This was announced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, on behalf of the FEC.

Lt Gen Useni’s illustrious career spanned decades, with significant contributions to Nigeria’s military and political landscape. He served as Minister of Transport, Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, and Minister of the FCT under General Sani Abacha’s regime.

The SGF eulogized the late Army General, describing him as a true role model, whose tireless efforts to promote peace and unity will be forever remembered, and encouraged younger officers to follow in his footsteps.

Senator Akume paid tribute to the late military icon, Lieutenant General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, praising his unwavering commitment to serving the nation. Stating that this dedication ultimately led Useni to transition into politics, where he made a significant impact as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Akume commiserates with the Government and people of Plateau State, his immediate family and prays to God to grant the soul of the departed eternal repose.
