Search and Rescue (SAR) teams have recovered a second body as operations continue to locate a remaining missing victim following a flood incident at El-Rufai Estate, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The latest recovery was made at about 5:48 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, downstream at Pai Village in Kwali Area Council, FCT, as response teams expanded the search beyond the initial scene of the incident.
The search operation at the Shetiko River was extended to downstream areas following the force of the flood currents and the possibility that victims may have been swept away from the original location.
Response teams are currently conducting coordinated searches along the river channel and surrounding areas in an effort to locate the remaining missing person.
The recovery of the second body brings the number of victims recovered from the incident to two, while one person remains unaccounted for.
SAR operations are ongoing, with response agencies expected to provide further updates as the search progresses.
