The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has moved into the final stage of its 2025 recruitment exercise, screening shortlisted candidates for physical fitness, medical suitability, documentation and professional conduct at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.
According to the Service, the two-week final screening commenced on Monday, September 7, 2026, and will run until September 19, with candidates shortlisted for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres participating in the exercise.
The NCS said the screening is being conducted in batches arranged alphabetically according to candidates’ states of origin to prevent congestion and ensure an orderly process.
Addressing the candidates, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, said the Service was looking beyond physical requirements in selecting prospective officers.
“On behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, I congratulate you on reaching this stage,” Onyeka said, urging the candidates to remain orderly and comply strictly with the guidelines governing the exercise.
He stressed that candidates’ attitude, discipline, character and overall conduct would be critical factors in determining those who would eventually join the Service.
Onyeka also disclosed that the NCS was working with the Customs Police and other relevant units to safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process.
Also speaking, the Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, said administrative innovations and inter-agency collaboration had helped to streamline the screening exercise.
Gaura said the process reflected the policy vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, which prioritises continuous operational improvement, collaboration and innovation.
He described the exercise as seamless and hitch-free, adding that it had so far been conducted without casualties.
The screening for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs cadre is scheduled to end on Thursday, September 10, while screening for the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will continue until September 19, 2026.
The Service urged candidates to maintain discipline and adhere to all screening procedures throughout the exercise.
