Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered over 500 cattle rustled by suspected terrorists during an operation in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops carried out the operation on September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over cattle rustling activities at Rugar Mande Kurmin in the area.
According to an official statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and established blocking positions.
The troops engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to retreat in disarray and abandon the cattle they had rustled.
The recovered cattle were subsequently handed over to their respective owners.
The operation, the statement said, further demonstrated the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to protecting lives and property while disrupting criminal activities and denying terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The task force urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with timely and relevant information to support ongoing operations and facilitate the eradication of terrorist elements within the Joint Operations Area.
