Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, have crushed a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist stronghold in Adamawa State, neutralising more than 21 terrorists during a major offensive in Hong Local Government Area.

According to an official statement signed by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, the operation was carried out in the Kopre Mountain general area in the early hours of August 27, 2026, following credible intelligence on the activities of the terrorists.

The statement said the joint force comprised personnel of the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State, under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM.

It said the troops conducted a stealth insertion into the rugged terrain, successfully penetrated the terrorists’ enclave and launched a precision strike on the camp.

The offensive was part of ongoing efforts to locate and rescue persons abducted by terrorist elements, including victims taken from Mussa community in May 2026 and schoolchildren abducted from Lassa in June 2026.

According to the statement, the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters during the operation, resulting in the neutralisation of over 21 terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Following the fierce engagements, the joint force took control of the area, dismantled the entire terrorist camp and destroyed associated logistics infrastructure, dealing a further blow to the terrorists’ operational capability in the area.

The troops also destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), which were believed to have been used to support the terrorists’ logistics and mobility.

Several AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition were recovered during the exploitation of the terrorist camp.

The military said the operation demonstrated the joint force’s intelligence exploitation capability, tactical proficiency and combat effectiveness, particularly its ability to project combat power into difficult and restrictive terrain.

It added that the offensive further demonstrated the capacity of the security forces to dismantle terrorist enclaves, degrade their logistics and fighting capabilities, and deny terrorist elements freedom of action across the North-East.

The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and OPHK troops for their gallantry, professionalism, resilience and seamless coordination during the operation.

The Joint Task Force, North-East, reaffirmed its resolve to sustain aggressive, intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing abducted persons, dismantling terrorist strongholds and degrading their logistics and fighting capabilities.

It assured the public that ongoing operations would continue until all abducted persons are located and rescued, while efforts are sustained towards restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
