The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, is set to advance technology-driven policing with the launch of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Vigilant App and MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Abuja.
According to an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the launch will take place at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, FCT, Abuja.
The initiative is part of the IGP’s efforts to leverage digital technology and strategic partnerships to strengthen police operations, improve communication and enhance service delivery across the Force.
The NPF Vigilant App is designed to facilitate improved engagement, information sharing and communication between the Police and members of the public.
The MTN CUG Network, on the other hand, will provide a dedicated communication platform for personnel of the Force, enabling seamless and efficient communication and strengthening internal coordination.
The Police said the deployment of the digital platforms underscores the commitment of the IGP to adopting modern technology and innovation as tools for improving operational effectiveness and policing outcomes.
The initiative is also expected to support faster communication within the Force while enhancing the Police’s engagement with members of the public.
The Nigeria Police Force said it remains committed to harnessing technology, innovation and strategic partnerships to deliver more responsive, efficient and people-centred security services to Nigerians.
