The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), representing 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in Osun State, have been collected ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
INEC said the remaining 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of registered voters, had been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with the Commission’s established practice.
According to an official statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC, the figures represent the final PVC collection statistics ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The Commission also disclosed that 6,101 voters who applied for replacement of damaged, defaced or lost PVCs had printed downloadable copies of their cards.
INEC said a detailed table showing PVCs collected on a Polling Unit-by-Polling Unit basis had also been published on the Commission’s website.
The Commission assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of Osun State of its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.
“The Commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15th August 2026,” the Commission stated.
The disclosure comes as INEC and other stakeholders intensify preparations for the governorship poll, with the Commission urging eligible voters and stakeholders to participate in the electoral process peacefully and responsibly.
