Interior Ministry Clarifies CDCFIB Recruitment Status, Warns Against Fake News

The Ministry of Interior has clarified that the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has not been postponed, warning applicants and members of the public against a fake statement circulating on social media and messaging platforms.

According to an official statement signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, the fake document, titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and dated August 11, 2026, was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Ministry said the purported statement, which claimed that the recruitment exercise had been deferred until after the 2027 general election due to funding constraints, did not originate from the Ministry, the Minister’s office or the CDCFIB.

It described the document as “fake, unauthorised, and fraudulent,” stressing that the Minister neither signed nor issued the statement.

The Ministry also dismissed the claim that the recruitment exercise had been deferred until after the 2027 general election, stating categorically that no such decision had been taken.

“The exercise is ongoing,” the Ministry stated.

It therefore urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the circulating document and avoid acting on information from unverified sources.

The Ministry advised applicants to rely solely on information published through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB for authentic updates concerning the recruitment exercise.

It also directed applicants to the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng, for verified information regarding the exercise.

The Ministry’s clarification is aimed at preventing misinformation from causing confusion among applicants participating in the ongoing CDCFIB recruitment process.
