Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms and other exhibits during an intelligence-led operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to an official statement signed by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operation was carried out on July 23, 2026, by troops of Sector 2 OPHK in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group at Jegalari Village.
The statement said the operation was executed by troops of the 233 Battalion, Damaturu Military Cantonment, following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected criminal elements operating in the area.
During the raid, the troops recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones believed to be connected to the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
The five suspects are currently in military custody alongside the recovered exhibits as investigations continue to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action across the North-East through sustained intelligence-driven operations.
The military also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest security agency, stressing that timely and credible information from law-abiding citizens remains crucial to ongoing efforts to protect communities and enhance security across the region.
