The President of the Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA), Dr. Nafisat Shehu Mohammed, has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting road safety awareness among children through sustained sensitisation programmes in schools.
Speaking during a road safety sensitisation programme for pupils of Fouad Lababidi Islamic Academy, Dr. Mohammed educated the children on critical safety practices, including the proper use of child restraints, safe road-crossing habits, and responsible road use.
She emphasized the importance of instilling road safety consciousness in children at an early age, noting that educating young people on safe road practices is essential to reducing road traffic crashes and building a culture of safety within communities.
The programme forms part of ROSOWA’s efforts to complement national road safety initiatives by equipping children with life-saving knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to make safer decisions on and around the roads.
Dr. Mohammed encouraged the pupils to become ambassadors of road safety by sharing the lessons learned with their families, friends, and peers.
The sensitisation exercise underscores ROSOWA’s dedication to nurturing a generation of safer, more responsible road users and fostering a culture of safety beginning from the classroom.
