The Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations across the North-East, foiling a terrorist infiltration attempt, arresting suspected logistics suppliers, and disrupting support networks linked to insurgent groups.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, troops successfully thwarted an attempted terrorist infiltration at the North East Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi, while also apprehending several individuals suspected of supporting Boko Haram and ISWAP activities.
The statement disclosed that troops responded swiftly at about 9:00 a.m. on June 9, 2026, after terrorists were sighted advancing towards the training school in Buni Yadi. The troops employed coordinated and precise fire missions that neutralised the threat and prevented the terrorists from achieving their objective.
Following the operation, troops conducted an exploitation of the area and recovered two terrorist corpses and a motorcycle, confirming the failure of the attempted infiltration and the effectiveness of the military response.
In separate intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist logistics networks, troops of the 25 Brigade Garrison, working in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested two suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers, identified as Mallam Bako Ibrahim and Abu Aji, along the Sierra 4 axis in Damboa, Borno State.
Similarly, troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion, in collaboration with the CJTF, apprehended another suspected logistics supplier, Musa Idi, along the Mandaragirau–Sabon Gari road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were involved in supplying materials and logistics support to terrorists operating within Damboa Local Government Area. Recovered items included 19 wristwatches, a large mat, a transistor radio, two cartons of agro-allied chemicals, and other materials believed to be intended for terrorist use.
The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody pending further investigation and necessary action.
In another development, combined troops of Sector 2 and the CJTF arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Adams Shittima, in Damboa town at about 5:58 a.m. on June 9, 2026.
The military said the suspect was intercepted while attempting to procure farm implements and mosquito nets for terrorist elements. During preliminary interrogation, Shittima reportedly confessed to providing logistics support and intelligence to terrorists operating within Damboa Local Government Area, exposing part of the network sustaining insurgent activities in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani noted that sustained military offensives and continuous pressure on terrorist enclaves have continued to weaken insurgent networks and force many of their members to abandon criminal activities.
He commended the troops for their professionalism, vigilance, resilience and commitment to the fight against terrorism and criminality, stressing that the latest operational gains demonstrate the resolve of Operation HADIN KAI to dismantle terrorist support structures, deny insurgents freedom of action, protect citizens, and create conditions for lasting peace, security and socio-economic recovery across the North-East.
