Troops of 82 Division Garrison operating under Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Enugu State Command, have uncovered a significant arms cache linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), during a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Enugu State.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to degrade the combat capabilities of IPOB/ESN and consolidate peace-building initiatives across the South-East region.
The statement disclosed that the latest success was recorded under Operation EASTERN SANITY II, a key component of the broader Operation UDO KA campaign aimed at dismantling criminal and terrorist networks operating within the region.
Lieutenant Colonel Ayeni stated that following earlier operational gains recorded on June 9, 2026, at Gariki in Enugu South Local Government Area, troops conducted a follow-up raid on a suspected safe house located in Agbani, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
During the operation, security forces uncovered a clandestine arms hideout concealed within the apartment and subsequently carried out a detailed exploitation of the facility.
The operation led to the recovery of several weapons, ammunition and other items believed to be linked to the activities of IPOB/ESN operatives.
Items recovered from the hideout included AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 323 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and 10 pairs of IPOB uniforms.
The Army said the discovery represents another major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to disrupt the operational networks of criminal elements and separatist fighters seeking to undermine peace and stability in the South-East.
According to the statement, all recovered weapons, ammunition and arrested suspects have been handed over to the Department of State Services, Enugu State Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The military noted that the operation underscores the determination of security agencies to sustain offensive actions against groups threatening public safety and national security.
“The operation reflects Operation UDO KA’s unwavering commitment to sustaining offensive actions against criminal and terrorist networks that could undermine the ongoing peace-building process in the region,” the statement said.
The Army further reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while preserving Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It also called on residents of the South-East to continue supporting security agencies through the provision of timely, accurate and credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
The statement emphasised that cooperation between citizens and security agencies remains essential to achieving lasting peace, stability and security across the region.
Operation UDO KA has continued to intensify intelligence-driven operations across the South-East as part of efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts, curb violent activities and create a more secure environment for residents and businesses.
