The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening strategic communication and deepening public engagement as a vital component of modern policing.
The IGP made this known on Thursday, June 5, 2026, during a working visit to the Headquarters of Nigeria Police Radio 99.1FM in Jabi, Abuja.
During the visit, IGP Disu toured the station’s facilities and received comprehensive briefings on its operations, programming activities, and its contributions to public enlightenment, crime prevention, and the promotion of community policing initiatives across the country.
Addressing management and staff of the station, the Inspector-General emphasized the indispensable role of the media in building public trust, enhancing transparency, and fostering stronger relationships between the Police and the communities they serve. He noted that effective communication remains a critical tool in improving public safety, combating misinformation, and promoting greater citizen participation in security matters.
The IGP further reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to leverage credible and innovative communication platforms to ensure timely dissemination of accurate information and strengthen public confidence in policing activities nationwide.
The visit highlights the Force’s ongoing efforts to enhance its communication architecture and reinforce citizen engagement through impactful, professional, and people-centered information dissemination, in line with its broader vision of promoting security, accountability, and public trust.
