The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria while directing enhanced security deployments nationwide to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

In an official signed statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the IGP congratulated Muslims as they commenced the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration on Wednesday, 27 May, and prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity across the country.

The police chief reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding lives and property during the festive period, directing Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all State Commands and the Federal Capital Territory to intensify proactive policing measures.

According to the statement, the security arrangements include the strategic deployment of tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds, critical national assets, recreational centres, highways, motor parks, and other public places across the country.

The police also announced intensified visibility policing, coordinated patrols, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence-led surveillance duties aimed at deterring criminal activities and ensuring public safety throughout the celebrations.

The Inspector-General further directed all commands to maintain swift response mechanisms to address any security threats that may arise during the holiday period.

The Nigeria Police Force urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities, persons, unattended objects, or unusual movements around public places and worship centres.

The Force emphasized that public vigilance remains critical to national security, noting that timely information from citizens could help prevent criminal attacks and save lives.

Members of the public were advised to report suspicious activities through the nearest police station or the Force emergency lines available круглосуточно.

IGP Disu wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyous, and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration, assuring Nigerians of the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to public safety and national security.
