Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded a major operational success following a series of precision air strikes that dismantled a key logistics network of the Islamic State West Africa Province along the Lake Chad waterways in Borno State.

The coordinated offensive, carried out on the night of April 21 and 22, 2026, targeted terrorist elements operating around the Kaniram Island axis, where intelligence reports indicated the movement and resupply of insurgents.

In an official signed statement, the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed that the operation was executed based on credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance inputs.

According to the statement, air assets established sustained aerial surveillance and confirmed the presence of over 30 terrorist boats used for logistics and coordination. Following careful target validation and adherence to Rules of Engagement, troops launched precision strikes that destroyed several of the boats and disrupted the terrorists’ supply chain.

The statement added that real-time intelligence enabled follow-up strikes on fleeing insurgents, resulting in the neutralisation of more than 30 terrorists, while others were seen retreating in disarray, indicating a breakdown in their operational structure.

In a related operation within the Sambisa Forest axis, troops carried out additional precision-guided strikes at Sowolwolo, destroying three terrorist gun trucks and neutralising several fighters.

Post-strike assessments confirmed heavy losses on the part of the insurgents, with intelligence reports indicating mass burial activities by ISWAP elements in the Mallam Fatori axis, underscoring the scale of damage inflicted.

Ground troops have since commenced exploitation operations to secure surrounding areas and prevent any regrouping by fleeing elements.

The military high command commended the troops for their performance, urging them to sustain the offensive tempo in order to dominate the battlespace and further degrade terrorist capabilities.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining relentless pressure on insurgent groups until they are decisively defeated.
