The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has undertaken a historic visit to the National Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps as part of efforts to reinforce inter-agency collaboration and strengthen Nigeria’s internal security framework.
According to an official signed statement by the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, ACC Afolabi Babawale, the visit marked the first of its kind and was aimed at deepening the existing working relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the NSCDC.
Addressing the Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and senior officers, the IGP described the visit as a deliberate step toward enhancing synergy between the two agencies, noting their shared responsibility in safeguarding national security.
“We must encourage one another as we confront contemporary security challenges. We often fight difficult battles in demanding terrains; therefore, we must share intelligence and operate as a unified front to achieve lasting peace,” Disu stated.
In his response, the Commandant General reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the police, emphasizing the Corps’ long-standing partnership with the Nigeria Police Force and its readiness to strengthen joint operations in response to evolving security threats.
Audi highlighted collaboration, cooperation, and coordination as essential pillars for the success of conventional security agencies. He also called on Nigerians to adopt a more proactive approach to security by emulating models where citizens actively support intelligence gathering and sharing.
The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph session involving the NSCDC’s top management and the IGP’s delegation, which included the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, and the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid.
