The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has charged troops of Operation Hadin Kai to sustain vigilance and maintain an aggressive posture in ongoing operations against terrorists in the North East.
The Army Chief gave the directive during an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, in Maiduguri on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Sani Uba, the visit was aimed at assessing the prevailing security situation in the theatre, evaluating operational effectiveness, strengthening strategic alignment and enhancing collaboration with relevant security stakeholders in addressing the remaining threats in the region.
While addressing troops during the visit, General Shaibu commended the gallantry, resilience and sacrifice demonstrated by personnel of Operation Hadin Kai in defending innocent civilians and degrading terrorist elements across the theatre. He urged the troops to remain steadfast, maintain maximum situational awareness and sustain the operational momentum already achieved.
The Chief of Army Staff emphasised the need for effective coordination among units, robust intelligence gathering and an improved operational posture to consolidate the successes already recorded. He further directed troops to maintain sustained operational aggressiveness in order to deny terrorists freedom of action, particularly during the final phase of the Ramadan period and beyond.
According to him, the era of remaining in defensive positions has ended, stressing that troops must continue to take the fight directly to terrorist elements wherever they are found.
Earlier, the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Abdulsalam Abubakar, presented a comprehensive operational briefing to the Army Chief, outlining recent operational activities, achievements and prevailing challenges within the theatre.
Major General Abubakar assured the COAS of the troops’ continued professionalism, commitment and patriotism in ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the North East. He also affirmed that personnel remain resolute and undeterred by isolated setbacks recorded in some locations, adding that the morale and fighting efficiency of troops remain high.
