The Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre (JDWC) has expressed its desire to deepen collaboration with the Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) in the area of doctrinal development, as part of efforts to strengthen joint operations within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the JDWC to the Headquarters of TRADOC NA at the Minna Military Cantonment, Niger State, on Tuesday, 13 January 2026. The delegation was led by the Director General of JDWC, Major General Aniedi Edet, and was received by the Commander TRADOC NA, Major General Peter Malla.

In an official statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Training and Doctrine Command, Lieutenant Colonel Felicia Daniel, the JDWC delegation explained that the visit was aimed at enhancing cooperation with TRADOC NA on doctrine development. Major General Edet noted that the core mandate of the Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre is to coordinate the development of joint doctrine for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, encompassing the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force.

He stressed that effective joint operations require a harmonised doctrinal framework and emphasised the importance of leveraging the experience and institutional capacity of TRADOC NA in advancing joint doctrine across the Services.

Responding, Major General Malla highlighted TRADOC NA’s more than four decades of experience in army doctrine development and training policy formulation. He assured the delegation of the Command’s readiness to work closely with JDWC to identify and close existing gaps in joint doctrine, with a view to enhancing inter-Service synergy in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

According to the TRADOC NA Commander, a shared and coherent doctrine remains critical to the success of joint military operations. He affirmed that TRADOC NA is fully prepared to support the operationalisation of joint doctrine across the Armed Forces, noting that such collaboration would strengthen unity of effort and improve overall operational effectiveness.

The visit featured detailed briefings on the Nigerian Army’s doctrine development process, the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, marking the visit as a significant step towards closer institutional collaboration between JDWC and TRADOC NA in pursuit of a more integrated and effective Armed Forces of Nigeria.
