The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reported a smooth and incident-free Search and Rescue operation during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Adamawa State, following the successful deployment of emergency response teams across key locations in the state.

The operation, coordinated by NEMA’s Yola Operations Office, was strategically carried out across major routes within the Yola metropolis, particularly in Yola South and Yola North Local Government Areas, where large congregational prayers and festive activities drew significant crowds.

Search and Rescue personnel were stationed at critical points including Maidoki Roundabout, Bekaji Underpass, Yola Bypass and Police Roundabout to ensure rapid emergency response, enhance road safety and maintain effective coordination throughout the celebrations.

The exercise was led by Mr. Pius, a Principal Search and Rescue Officer, who supervised field operations and ensured seamless coordination across all designated locations.

Officials confirmed that no major incidents or road traffic accidents were recorded during the period, attributing the success to proactive planning, timely deployment and strong inter-agency synergy.

NEMA also commended the support and collaboration of key partner agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, noting that their collective efforts played a vital role in ensuring a safe and orderly festive period.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through continued preparedness, rapid response mechanisms and sustained collaboration with relevant stakeholders during national events and public gatherings.
