The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has commended the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Corps for its visible infrastructural transformation and innovative strides, describing the achievements under its Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, as a clear reflection of hard work, dedication and purposeful leadership.

Prof. Audi gave the commendation during a facility assessment visit to the newly initiated Obstacle Course Training Centre at the FCT Command, as part of his 2026 Operational Tour aimed at evaluating operational preparedness and infrastructure development across NSCDC formations nationwide.

In a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer of the Corps, ACC Afolabi Babawale, the Commandant General expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of development at the FCT Command, noting that the transformation recorded within a short period of Odumosu’s assumption of office was both remarkable and instructive.

“What you have done here is very remarkable; of course you cannot give what you do not have. I am indeed proud of your achievements as the FCT Commandant, and you have represented us appropriately. Obviously, the FCT Command is the operational base of the National Headquarters. What you have demonstrated in such a short period since you assumed office indicates that you have much to offer the Corps,” Prof. Audi said.

He further described the FCT Command as a hub of innovation within the Corps, noting that its personnel are among the most dedicated and forward-looking officers, intentionally deploying creative ideas and initiatives to reposition the NSCDC for greater efficiency and relevance. Emphasising the extent of the transformation within the Corps, the Commandant General remarked that “even a blind person knows that the Civil Defence of yesterday is not the same as today.”

During the tour, Prof. Audi charged officers and men of the Command to remain disciplined and committed to the core values, rules and principles of the Corps. He cautioned against indolence and misconduct, urging personnel to place the interest of the Service above personal considerations and to channel their energy into productive initiatives capable of being replicated by other Commands.

The NSCDC boss also used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for approving the recent promotion of personnel who had remained stagnated for years. According to him, the development has reinvigorated morale within the Service and given renewed impetus to the Renewed Hope agenda.

Looking ahead, Prof. Audi disclosed that the National Headquarters is currently developing a sophisticated College of Arms Squad Service in Nasarawa State. He assured that the blueprint of the FCT Command’s obstacle course would be leveraged for wider training purposes across the Corps, while pledging the full support of the National Headquarters towards the timely completion of the FCT Command’s project.

The visit culminated in a tactical demonstration by trained personnel at the obstacle course, highlighting the Command’s physical preparedness, operational competence and commitment to continuous professional development.
