The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned four new infrastructure projects at the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina State, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve the welfare and morale of personnel deployed under Operation FASAN YANMA.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, commissioned the projects during an operational visit to the Base. The newly completed facilities include two modern accommodation blocks, providing much-needed housing for airmen and officers who previously relied on scattered hotel lodgings due to inadequate on-base facilities.

Also inaugurated was a newly built Christian worship centre the first of its kind at the Base designed to provide a place of spiritual refuge, reflection, and support for Christian personnel stationed in the area.

Addressing personnel and invited guests at the commissioning ceremony, Air Marshal Abubakar described the projects as tangible proof of NAF’s commitment to building a highly motivated and people-focused force.

“This is how we build a highly motivated force by putting people first,” he said. “By renewing infrastructure and restoring dignity.”

He emphasized that the initiative reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s broader strategic objective to enhance troop welfare while sustaining operational effectiveness. According to the CAS, the projects were made possible through the continued support of the Federal Government, the National Assembly, and particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, under whose Renewed Hope agenda the NAF has continued to strengthen infrastructure across its formations.

“These buildings are not just about brick and mortar. They are about purpose, resilience, and care. They represent the spirit of a service that puts its people at the centre of everything,” the Air Chief added.

Air Marshal Abubakar also commended personnel for their dedication to duty in safeguarding the nation’s airspace and contributing to joint operations against insurgency and other security threats in the region.

In his closing remarks, he extended appreciation to the host community and people of Katsina for their continued support to the Nigerian Air Force.
