The Action Alliance (AA) has announced its withdrawal from the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), citing that the coalition no longer represents its values and interests. According to an official signed statement by the AA’s National Chairman, Kenneth Udeze, this decision marks a significant shift in the party’s alliances.

Udeze said the decision of the AA to exit the CUPP was arrived at after consultation with its stakeholders.

The opposition party further noted that it will continue to champion good governance and deepening democracy through its membership of the Inter Party Advisory Council ( IPAC).

“CUPP no longer represents our collective values due to lack of legal backing, internal organizational structure and leadership, above all the loss of its collective strength which was the case when the organization was formed prior to the 2019 general election.

“Over time, we have observed and participated in discussions, meetings, and events that have led our party to question the CUPP direction and actions. Despite our efforts to contribute to positive change, by engaging in constructive criticism as opposition, we have come to believe that our differences are insurmountable.

“We appreciate the opportunities we had to engage with like-minded individuals within the CUPP who share our passion for the cause of deepening democracy and promoting good governance.

“However, we can no longer continue to support an organization that we feel no longer represents our collective values due to lack of legal backing, internal organizational structure and leadership, above all the loss of its collective strength which was the case when the organization was formed prior to the 2019 general election.” The statement concluded.
