In response to the recent attacks by unknown gunmen in the Ovie Southwest Local Government Area of Edo State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has conducted assessment at the affected communities.

A statement made available to journalists by the head Media disclosed that the assessment was led by the Head of NEMA Edo Operations office, Mr. Kenoma Ojuederie, in collaboration with the Edo State Emergency Management Agency (EDOSEMA), headed by its Executive Secretary Mr. Jerry Idahosa.

The statement revealed that the attacks reportedly impacted eight communities; however, the assessment team was only able to visit four due to ongoing tensions in the remaining areas. During their visit, the team engaged with displaced persons, expressing the Government’s sympathy and urging them to remain calm and peaceful.

Many of the displaced individuals are currently seeking temporary shelter in various camps, while those injured are receiving medical treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and Ignobazuwa General Hospital.
The situation remains critical, and efforts are ongoing to provide support and ensure the safety of the affected communities.
