A Portuguese football club, Brito Sporting Club, has signed a talented 19-year-old Nigerian-born footballer, Yaqub Usman-Malah, to their team. This exciting move was made official on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Yaqub, born in Nigeria in 2006, has already shown incredible promise and potential in his young career. Prior to joining Brito Sporting Club, he was a student and trainee player at Brooke College Football Academy in the United Kingdom, where he impressed with 17 goals in 32 matches and no injuries in 116 training days.

His former coach, Tomasz Wasylik, praised Yaqub as a “well-liked person” and a role model to his teammates, highlighting his professionalism, unmatched work rate, and versatility on the field. With this new opportunity, Yaqub is expected to live up to his potential and achieve greatness in his football career.

The Lead Coach further stated that Yaqub has played in National School Cup competitions against other colleges and programmes in the 2023/2024 session and is a good ‘tactical player’, ‘technically good’ and can ‘play in multiple positions on the field’.

It is expected that Yaqub will live to the potential and promise identified by Coach Tomasz Wasylik of the Brooke College Football Academy and achieve greatness in his new club.

As we eagerly anticipate Yaqub’s impressive display of skill and endurance, we wish him a thriving career and recognition among the world’s football legends,” said Mr. Usman Malah, Yaqub’s father, in a statement released to the media today, Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
