The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, on Monday attended the opening ceremony of the African International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026 in Lagos, an event aimed at promoting defence innovation, indigenous production and strategic partnerships to strengthen Africa’s collective security.
The exhibition, held on October 26, 2026, brings together stakeholders in the defence and security sector to advance collaboration, encourage local defence manufacturing and explore innovative solutions to Africa’s evolving security challenges.
AFRIDEX 2026 is expected to provide a platform for African countries and international partners to showcase defence technologies, exchange expertise and strengthen strategic relationships in support of regional security and self-reliance in defence production.
Oluyede’s attendance underscores the Nigerian Armed Forces’ engagement with initiatives aimed at advancing defence capabilities, promoting indigenous technological development and fostering partnerships to address emerging security threats across the continent.
The exhibition also highlights the importance of African-led solutions, technological innovation and collaboration in building a more resilient and self-sufficient defence industry to support peace and stability across the region.
